Stripes and Solids
This was my third-year project in college. The assignment was to tell a story with no more than seven lines of dialogue, as they appear in standard screenplay format. Struggling to come up with an activity the audience could understand visually, I eventually thought of a game of pool. In preparation for writing, I watched the classic pool movie The Color of Money, and studied the plot structure of Regular Show episodes. 11-minute cartoons, I figured, are the closest thing to short films that most people watch for entertainment. Known for its plots that inexplicably progress from mundane to supernatural, Regular Show also inspired my absurd villain, Suit Man.
Two new college roommates play a game of pool to determine who gets the better bed.
