Comeback King - Trailer
Awarded Best Trailer at the LA 48 Hour Film Project 2024!
As the editor on Comeback King, I had about 20 hours to turn a day’s worth of footage into a finished short film. Why the insane timeline? This was the 48 Hour Film Project, where competing teams are given a filmmaking prompt on Friday afternoon and, via caffeine and strength of will, must submit a finished film on Sunday.
Taking my editing gear to set on Saturday, I began offloading camera cards as soon as they came in, and had a rough cut done around 3am the following morning. After a few hours of sleep, I met with producers Charlotte Oxley and Brett Blauner for feedback, and as soon as we picture locked the cut at 1pm, we handed it off to our amazing composer Liam Wallace for original score. While Liam worked on music, I finished sound, color, and graphics, and we had the whole export ready and uploaded by the 7:30pm deadline. We were overjoyed and exhausted—and I’m still getting tired just thinking about it.
Everyone on our team (Best Laid Plans) did a phenomenal job, and I’m so proud of what we made together!
